Wild Fly Fishing for Grayling & Brown Trout in Bosnia

Fly fishing the SANA

WILD WATERS, WILD FISH & BEAUTIFUL NATURE

The Sana River is a wild freestone river flowing through beautiful and largely untouched surroundings. Its constantly changing character—from fast riffles and long glides to deep pools and slower sections—creates a wide variety of fly fishing opportunities throughout the river.

The Sana holds excellent numbers of wild grayling, with fish capable of reaching impressive sizes. Depending on the conditions and time of year, anglers can target them with dry flies, nymphs and sight-fishing techniques. During good hatches, large grayling can often be found feeding in the glides and slower sections of the river.

As the Sana winds through the landscape, several canyon sections add to its wild character. Different stretches offer completely different types of water, allowing us to adapt each fishing day to current conditions, hatches and the angler’s preferred style of fishing.

The river is also home to wild brown trout and Hucho hucho, making the Sana an exceptionally diverse fishery. For anglers looking for wild fly fishing in Bosnia, beautiful scenery, varied water and the opportunity to target quality grayling, the Sana offers a truly authentic experience.
